Beta-program

Three weeks of device testing on top of 1.0.25, and it shows in the places you touch every day: a transposition can now be written into the song for good, the automatic section headings finally speak your language, and starting a setlist does the right thing even when a song in it went to the trash.

In numbers: 271 commits since 1.0.25 and 69 reported problems closed, checked by 5,026 automated tests and a device pass across real Macs, an iPad, an Android tablet and a two-instance band rig before this went out.

New & improved

• Apply a transposition to the song for good. Press and hold — or right-click — the transpose controls in the status bar and pick "Apply transposition to the song…". Every chord in the text is rewritten into the key you are actually playing, with the sharp/flat spelling you see on screen, and the transposition goes back to zero. The capo can be folded in at the same time, and your chord-diagram choices follow the chords. One step of Undo in the editor takes the whole thing back, key and offset included.
• Section headings speak your language. CHORUS, VERSE, BRIDGE and the rest were hard-coded English, even in a fully translated app. They are now written the way your language writes a section heading — Japanese charts get the wording Japanese charts use, and scripts without capitals are set as they should read rather than force-capitalised. A heading you typed yourself is still printed exactly as you wrote it.
• PDF and image songs can have an artist. The pencil on such a row opens a small "Song details" dialog with Title and Artist instead of renaming the title alone. The artist is what a run sheet and the songbook contents print, and what sorting by artist uses.
• Starting a setlist can take you straight to the stage. A new switch in Preferences → General → Theater makes "Start Setlist" open theater right away. It is off by default, and it lives on the device — the tablet on the mic stand can have it while the laptop you build sets on does not.
• A mistyped directive is visible while you type. {titel: …} is not a directive the app knows, so it is dropped when the song is saved — silently, until now. A footer names the first offender with its line number and counts the rest. Nothing is blocked.
• The interface scales as one piece, and follows your colour theme. The status bar had a touch floor that sat above every offered step, so it was the same size at 85 % and at 150 %; the Songs filter row grew in halves. Both now read one set of metrics. The transport buttons no longer carry a fixed grey, and "active" states take their accent from the palette you chose instead of a constant sage and blue.

Band Mode & sync reliability

• A live session shows up on every device again. On a device that had been left on the Bands tab, the session list stayed empty for the whole run and survived restarts — the panel asked for its data before the connection existed and never asked again. It now waits for the connection and picks the session up as soon as it is there.
• A follower keeps following a leader who restarted. The follower used to ignore everything the leader sent after a restart until the next heartbeat.
• Ending a session ends it on your own screen too. The leader's panel kept saying "You are leading" and went on broadcasting to a session the server had already closed.
• A send-only device stops re-uploading everything, every cycle. Each round re-sent the whole edited set as full rows, plus a reorder call for the entire setlist — the same songs, over and over.
• "Manual — ask before sync" stops asking twice. The prompt returned a second later, right after the sync you had just confirmed.

Live performance fixes

• Starting a setlist steps over songs in the trash. A setlist whose first entry pointed at a deleted song used to start into nothing — no song opened, and the status bar lost its setlist row entirely. It now opens the first song that is still there, Next and Prev skip the dead rows, and the setlist row stays put.
• Next and Prev continue from the song you started on, instead of jumping back to entry 1 in both directions.
• A sync no longer interrupts playback, and a linked audio file reaching its end respects "Automatic scrollback" like everything else.
• Page-turn mode turns real pages. A page is a sheet of fixed size that ends where its content ends; tabs, grids and comments count when the page is measured; and the first turn of a song no longer opens on a sliced line.

Chord / song editor

• The header names the key the chords are actually written in. A song without a stored key derived its key from the de-duplicated chord list while the transposer read every occurrence, so a template song could read "F" over C chords.
• The key field accepts only a key — and keeps what you typed. Pressing Return wrote your value and the old one back in the same instant, so a change fell back minutes later; typing past a key ("EA") turned the text into the song's key and sent it to every device. An invalid entry is now refused with a red frame, and the key reaches your other devices like the capo does.
• A comment inside a chorus stays part of the chorus, and a section directive's label is its heading — {start_of_verse: Intro} prints "Intro", in the colon form and the attribute form alike.
• The chord-diagram heading follows your chord notation — German H/B, Nashville, solfège — instead of always spelling the English name.
• The song list stopped hitching when you leave the Songs tab and come back. With a large library the whole list was rebuilt; only what is on screen is built now.

Print / output

• The run sheet prints the songs as they are now. "Print setlist" computed its lines once per session, so an artist or key you changed in between still showed the old value in the preview and in the saved PDF.
• Both print dialogs name the trash. A setlist whose entries all point at trashed songs used to open with a red "no songs to export", as if it were empty; a trashed song now gets its own neutral line, and the band hint is reserved for entries this device really has no row for.
• Run sheets: numbers at the margin, artist on its own line, matching the songbook contents page. A switch restores the inline form.
• A ChordPro export round-trips transposition and play time, and {ci:} prints italic.

Other fixes

• Linux: the published zip no longer ships copies of libraries the startup path already needs — the bundled text stack shadowed the user's working one, and 1.0.25 still failed to start on Mint 21 because of it. A pre-upload check now resolves the finished bundle inside a real Ubuntu 22.04 userland instead of reasoning about it, and stops the release rather than warning.
• macOS: quitting closes the database cleanly. The close could abort on an internal "concurrent modification" while a watch stream was still being torn down, leaving a -wal file behind and reporting a crash on the next launch.
• A manual sync that times out is reported as a sync error, not as a crash. It used to show nothing at the time and come back as a crash report on the next launch. And when a report is filed, the log around the incident travels with it instead of the following session's first lines.
• A Starter is offered the upgrade instead of a dead control. In the middle of the Setlists tab, adding a song, reordering and removing an entry did nothing at all on the free plan — no dialog, no hint. And a Starter who redeems a connect code now sees the musician they connected to.
• Refreshed translations and rebuilt manuals across all 23 locales, including the sharing dialogs, "Start Setlist" and the collapsed theater pills, which were English in every language.
