I've been using your new version today and I want you to know that you have developed a wonderful app. It's very comprehensive and fun to use. Especially now that I know how to use the transposition feature. That is incredible. I've been cleaning up my songs all day by applying correct chordpro language and the pages seem to line up correctly. Not sure if that's due to your update but I really like using the app in a live setting now.
I played a gig on Saturday at the World of Music event in downtown Appleton, WI to a large crowd and Songbook Buddy worked flawlessly. The recent updates to the Preferences section really helped; larger buttons, larger screen, transposition, tap to turn pages/songs, etc. The improvements made using the app in a live setting work perfectly. I also like the fact that I can still see the date and time above the app while in Theater mode. This is very helpful during a performance.

To me, Songbook Buddy isn’t just an app – it’s the result of a developer who works with a passion that’s hard to find these days. I’ve rarely met anyone like Gerald: open, attentive, genuinely interested in every detail, and incredibly quick to put things into practice. You throw an idea at him, and hours later it’s not only built in, but implemented in such a way that you wonder why it wasn’t always like that.
For me, as an amateur musician who mostly plays just for myself, this app is a real game-changer. All my songbooks, books, printouts – they can finally stay on the shelf. I always have my entire collection with me, on my iPhone, iPad and MacBook, neatly sorted, instantly available and without the sluggishness that has often annoyed me with other apps. My old iPad, which had actually already been retired, has been given a new lease of life thanks to Songbook Buddy 2.
And then there’s the tuner. I never thought I’d ever delete my guitar tuner app – but that’s exactly what happened. The built-in tuner mode is so good and so quick to access that I don’t need anything else at all. It feels as though I’ve suddenly got a Swiss Army knife for music in my pocket.
What makes Songbook Buddy special to me is this blend of technical prowess and genuine humanity behind it. You can tell at every turn that this has been developed by someone who makes music themselves and understands what you really need in everyday life. And that they listen. Really listen.
I make music just for myself, without a stage, without an audience – but since Songbook Buddy 2, I’ve been making it more often, more relaxed and with more joy. And for me, that’s the greatest compliment you can pay an app.
